Public Framework 5/6
Tel Aviv-Yafo Districts 5–6
What makes a city more vibrant, accessible, and connected?
Public Framework 5/6 examines the network of public buildings, open spaces, and urban infrastructure in the heart of Tel Aviv-Yafo — not as separate assets, but as a living civic system that can perform better throughout the day, the week, and the year.
The project covers approximately 5,000 dunams and includes a detailed survey of around 300 buildings and 100 public plots at varying levels of detail. Through fieldwork, interviews, statutory and architectural analysis, and a dynamic GIS-based model, the study identifies opportunities to improve walkability, connectivity, collaboration between public institutions, community uses, and the preservation of local urban heritage.
The project offers a new way to read the city: revealing existing potential, connecting public spaces, and creating a smarter foundation for urban decision-making.
The project was conducted in collaboration with the Strategic Unit of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
The GIS platform for the survey phase was developed by Hadasa Lev.
